The fifth floor of the Legon Mall in Accra has caved in leading to the death of one man on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Sources say the man in his 30s was casting concrete with other workers when he fell from the fifth floor and died instantly when the floor caved in.
The deceased, who was the foreman on the Legon Mall project, is known by his moniker ‘Fabulous’.
The body has been transported to the morgue.
The incident also led to several injured who are receiving treatment at the Legon hospital.
The police have since cordoned off the area and have began investigations into the accident.
Two weeks ago there was mayhem and a lot of frenzy among shoppers and shopkeepers at the Accra Mall shopping centre located around Tetteh Quarshie roundabout when an artic ripped off injuring some customers along the walkway within the mall.
Part of the shopping area was closed off to the public as all shoppers and shopkeepers were evacuated to the forecourt.
Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) together with the police were quickly dispatched to the shopping centre to ascertain the degree of damage while the latter warded off customers to ensure their safety.
