Five interesting facts about KNUST's Afiba Harrison

With the media still discussing the fallout from Tuesday’s protest staged by students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) against school management, one name that appears to have the heart of many is Afiba Harrison.

Afiba Harrison occupies the role in the Students' Representative Council (SRC) designated as the chief of staff.

Her comments on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana show hosted by Paul Adom-Otchere on the KNUST impasse was critical of youth silencing.

YEN.com.gh goes behind the scenes and brings you five facts about Harrison that Ghanaians do not know.

1. She wants to do politics

Information gathered by YEN.com.gh from some students of KNUST indicates that Afiba Harrison has intentions of entering mainstream politics.

Her partisan bend is certainly not open to the general public. But it would not matter much if she continues to fight for the disenfranchised.

2. Harrison is a debator

The chief of staff of KNUST SRC is a confirmed member of the school's Debate Society. If anyone doubted her prowess, her interview with Paul Adom-Otchere should put things in context.

If her intentions on politics are to be seen through, her ability to debate would matter.

3. She is a third year student

Harrison is a third year student on a science programme. This only means that apart from the expected toughness of her studies, she is also standing up to abuse at a very young age.

If she decides to run for SRC president in this academic year, it will be hard to bet against her.

4. She is a former student of Nkroful Senior High

Nkroful is the birthplace of Ghana's first president, Kwame Nkrumah. It would seem like the small Western Region town has given us another gift for future leadership.

Harrison attended Nkroful Senior High where she is believed to have completed in 2015.

5. Afiba Harrison loves reggae music

YEN.com.gh cannot say for sure whose music Harrison like but we can confirm that she is a firm lover of reggae music.

It would not be hard to make the inference that she could like the "liberation" theme of reggae songs owing to how she wants to do politics.
