- Supporters of Former President John Mahama and Goosie Tanoh have clashed at Ashaiman over campaign posters
- This occurred just before a planned visit by Mahama to the constituency
The Ashaiman Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tony Afenyo, on Monday, 29 October 2018, allegedly engaged the party’s Constituency Operations Officer, Carlos Usman, in a fight over a misunderstanding.
YEN.com.gh understands that the Afenyo is a staunch supporter of flagbearer hopeful, Goosie Tanoh, whiles Usman is an admirer of Former President Mahama.
Information available shows that Afenyo led some youth to circulate Tanoh’s posters all over the constituency ahead of Mahama’s visit.
This did not go down well with Usman, who engaged him in a confrontation, and led to fisticuffs between them.
“Tony has been doing certain things in Ashaiman that I’ve been quiet [about] for a long [time] but I think it’s time for me to bring him to book.
I don’t care, he can support his Goosie Tanoh; it’s a game, but he being a chairman should, at least, remain neutral.
John Mahama is coming to Ashaiman today, and as of 10 pm, we were at the premises to make sure we fix the lights and everything, and Tony ordered his boys to come to the premises with Goosie Tanoh’s posters, pasting it at the premises,” he revealed.
Usman added that Afenyo also instructed his boys to deface Mahama’s posters with that of Goosie Tanoh.
