Police arrest 150 criminals after a massive 10-hour swoop in Accra

- Police officials have arrested over 150 suspected criminals in Accra

- This was after a 10-hour swoop by the Greater Accra Regional Police Command

- Some illegal structures were destroyed and two vehicles were seized from the suspects

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has rounded up over 150 criminals in different locations in Accra.

In the course of the operation, police and Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) officials demolished illegal structures believed to be the hideouts of suspects.

The exercise, which took over then (10) hours, was conducted at Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, the railway crossing and some parts of Agbogbloshie.

Shedding more light on the operation, the Accra Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Patrick Adusei Sarpong said the exercise was aimed at ridding the metropolis of hardened criminals.

According to him, the police were currently conducting further investigations and profiling the suspects to ensure that those found culpable were put before court.

He went on to say that some undeveloped plots of land in the city were attracting squatters who were turning those areas into slums and dens for criminals.

A pistol, a Toyota Camry and a Benz Wagon with Nigerian registration number plates KTU 336 FA and UBB J 772 MQ, respectively, were impounded by the police
