Government institutions like the Ghana revenue authority, and the ministries prepare to receive the about 100,000 graduates as Nation builders corps start work today, November 1, 2018
According to the National Coordinator of NabCo, Ibrahim Anyass, all qualified trainees, including those still completing verification, would be engaged in November.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Ibrahim added that so far, the NabCo Secretariat had placed over 67,000 trainees ahead of the November 1, start work date.
Ibrahim explained that the rest are expected to be offered their placements during the first week of November.
Statistics gathered from the secretariat indicate that 324 beneficiaries have been placed under Civic Ghana, 1,995 under the digitize Ghana module with Educate Ghana being the highest so far with 29,444. The rest are Enterprise Ghana -42; Feed Ghana-5,817; Heal Ghana, 6,575 and Revenue Ghana, 169
He said the programme was not a duplication of other youth employment schemes like the Youth Employment Agency which was introduced under the National Democratic Congress government.
He further explained that the programme formed part of the Akufo-Addo government's move towards addressing the increasing spate of youth unemployment in the country.
Government is expected to pay the recruits an amount of Gh₵ 700 at the end of the month.
Speaking at the passing out ceremony of the nation builders corps on October 17, 2018, President Nana Akufo-Addo, urged them to work hard and contribute their quota to the development of the country.
He reminded the recruits that the monthly stipend which was going to be given them at the end of the month was not for free and that they needed to work hard and be committed to their work.
Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that the country would benefit from the services of the recruits who would be working under the various modules under this programme.
