The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that the public can now have access to passport applications forms for free.
A statement on the Ministry’s official website said passport applicants can also now download their application forms online.
Applicants will have to download a PDF format of the passport application form from the Ministry’s website (www.mfa.gov.gh).
The statement also addressed some concerns of the public regarding passport acquisition the mode of payments.
It indicated that despite the application fee being free, the 50 cedis and 100 cedis processing fee for regular and express services remain unchanged.
Also, payment of the processing fees will no longer be done at the bank, the statement added.
“Payment can only be made by mobile money (MTN, Vodafone) and Visa or MasterCard.”
However, the new system does not replace the already existing online Passport Application Systems.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry also touched on the shortage of passport booklets across the various offices, explaining that measures are being put in place to ensure the problem is solved.
The Ministry said it is hopeful that the shortage of booklets “should be a thing of the past”.
“The Ministry is also appealing to Ghanaians to endeavour to apply for a Passport when they have need for it,” the statement added
