Sarkodie begs Ghanaians on Wendy Shay's behalf following interview snub

Multiple award-winning act, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has apologized to Ghanaians especially Joy News' Mzgee over a recent interview involving Wendy Shay.

Sarkodie took to social media to plead on Wendy Shay's behalf after the video in which she cut short her interview with Mzgee over a question went viral.

"Not to endorse what Lil sis Wendy did but as artistes, we've had days like that especially coming up in the beginning, takes time to gain full confidence and the knowledge to be able to maneuver our way through this job easily," excerpts of the post read.

"Would apologize to the interviewer and plead for our sis... Mistakes happen...let's keep supporting," the post concluded.

Sarkodie went on to indicate that artistes normally faced such situations that made it seem as though people, especially the media were after them.

The 'Can't Let You Go' singer added that such situations made artistes to get "extra sensitive" leading to harsh reactions sometimes.

YEN.com.gh reported on a video of musician Wendy Shay describing a question asked by a Joy FM presenter as ‘dumb’.

In the video which is available on Joy FM’s Facebook page, Wendy Shay was asked some questions, including her alleged sexual relationship with her boss, Bullet.

But Wendy Shay, declining to comment on that issue, told the presenter that she had moved on from that incident, therefore, she did not want to make further comments on it.

Wendy Shay then said that she expected Ghanaians to forget about that incident and focus on her and her music.

“I have moved on from that, we are doing good songs now and I want Ghanaians to focus on that and accept me just as I am, as Wendy Shay,” she said.

Then the presenter asked her, “Who is Wendy Shay?”

But the question did not go down well with the ‘Uber Driver’ singer and she showed by her reaction that she was very offended, and asked that the interview be stopped.

“This is like the dumbest question I have heard, who is Wendy Shay? Can we cut this interview? I don’t want to do it anymore,” Wendy Shay said and walked out on the presenter.

While YEN.com.gh cannot say exactly why Wendy felt offended and decided to walk out, some on social media have said that she probably felt belittled by that question.
