Today in history: Asamoah Gyan remembers late mum

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has marked the sixth anniversary of his mother’s demise with a touching message on Instagram.

The 32-year-old lost his mother, Cecilia Amoako, six years ago after she was involved in a fatal accident near the Teachers' Hall in Accra.

Madam Cecilia Amoako was reported to have driven into a pillar and was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the Ridge Hospital.

Today marks exactly six years from that unfortunate day in 2012, and Gyan took time to mourn his mother accordingly.

In an Instagram post, the striker said he is “upset” about her demise, adding that he still loves her wherever she currently is.

6th November. The day you left us. I’m so upset today because so many people are taking advantage of your son since your death but I know God is watching them,” the Black Stars skipper wrote.

I wish you can see what you chose for me but it wasn’t your fault hmmm. But I have learnt lots of things from it. I love you mum. Rest In Peace where ever you are.”
