According to the lawyers of Ghana international Asamoah Gyan, the footballer is not looking to divorce his wife. Instead, Gyan is asking a court of law to annul the marriage.
As YEN.com.gh reported earlier, the lawyers state that: “An annulment is a legal procedure which cancels a marriage between a man and a woman.
Annulling a marriage is as though it is completely erased – legally, it declares that the marriage never technically existed and was never valid".
So YEN.com.gh asked readers via Facebook what they made of the decision of Asamoah Gyan.
Ussif Seidu thought it was a bit hard to believe the logic of annulment. The Facebook user asked: "If the marriage never existed, how did the 3 children come in?"
Another Facebook user kept things short. Usher Robert just had two words: "Absolute madness".
Other Facebook users did not think it was worth drawing a difference between an annulment and a divorce. Tony Dadzie wrote: "Massa forget the BIG GRAMMAR. DIVORCE IS DIVORCE".
Qweiku Nyeimo had a much deeper concern, using the issue to speak on what it holds for Asamoah Gyan's reputation. The Facebook user wrote: "Your reputation damage is already done".
But Asamoah seems to have secured a small number of supporters who believe his decision was the best. Mana Mona wrote: "That is better."
