Christine-Marie Nyantakyi, wife of former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has revealed that they parted with an amount of $100,000 to halt the screening of Number 12, a video released by Tiger Eye PI.
In an interview on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, she stated that they gave out the money after they were approached by some people who claimed they will ensure that the video was not released.
She however added that the money was returned to them in two tranches of $60,000 and $40,000, after the video was released in June 2018.
According to Nyantakyi’s wife, he gave out $100,000 because that was all he could pay.
This followed an earlier allegation that the Anas-led Tiger Eye PI crew had attempted to blackmail Nyantakyi by demanding $150,000 from him.
Tiger Eye however denied the allegation, and explained that it is possible someone served as an intermediary without their knowledge or approval.
Nyantakyi has been banned from all football activities for the rest of his life, and has been fined 500,000 Swiss Francs for various breaches of FIFA’s code of ethics.
