Former Black Stars captain passes on

- A former Black Stars captain, John Eshun, has reportedly died

- He passed away after being bedridden for about two years

- Eshun was part of Ghana's 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics teams

Reports reaching YEN.com.gh show that a former captain of the Black Stars, John Eshun, has lost his life.

Eshun, who played for Sekondi Hasaacas and Eleven Wise, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

He died in his home at Kojokrom, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region, after being bedridden for about two years.

Eshun was part of the 1968 and the 1972 Summer Olympics teams. As a defender, he played in two African Cup of Nations finals in 1968 and 1970.

He also served as the technical director of Ebusua Dwarfs, and was once in charge of Berekum Arsenal.

Born in Sekondi, he began playing club football for local sides Sekondi Eleven Wise F.C. and Sekondi Hasaacas F.C.

After he retired from playing football, he became a coach. He has managed Tema Youth and Ebusua Dwarfs.
