Highflying Manchester City side on Sunday, November 11 defeated rivals Manchester United 3-1in this season's first Manchester derby played at Etihad stadium.
The Red Devils came into the match brimming with confidence ahead of the 43rd Manchester derby, having secured a 2-1 dramatic victory away to Juventus on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
The reigning Premier League champions dominated the opening exchanges of the Sunday clash, with a defensive lapse seeing United concede early thanks to David Silva's sublime finish in the 10th minute.
However, United settled into the match after the 15th minute and were able to get a foothold in the encounter, but less threatening going forward.
Upon the resumption of the second half, City continued with their blistering performance, with their efforts paying off in the 45th minute as Sergio Aguero fired a thunderous shot to make it 2-0.
In the 56th minute, Jose Mourinho introduced Romelu Lukaku at the expense of Jesse Lingard in a tactical substitution, with the Belgian going on to win a penalty for the visitors.
Anthony Martial superbly converted the penalty to bring the Red Devils back to the game.
The tie looked destined for a 2-1 narrow win for City, but with four minutes to stoppage time Gundogan slotted the ball home past a helpless De Gea from close range to put the game beyond United.
The match eventually finished 3-1, as Manchester City made a statement in the Manchester derby to maintain their standing at the top of the Premier League.
Meanwhile, United are rocked at eight, a staggering 12 points behind City.
