- Former NDC regional chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has slammed the party's general secretary, General Mosquito, for his endorsement of former president John Mahama
- According to Jacobs, General Mosquito condemned the decision by the party's 10 regional chairmen to endorse Mahama for the 2020 elections
- For General Mosquito to now express his support for Mahama is sycophancy, he said
Former Central Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has lashed out at General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia for his support for former president John Mahama.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, Nketia, better known as General Mosquito, in November 2017, condemned 10 regional chairmen for their endorsement of Mahama.
It is believed the endorsement compelled Mahama to contest as flagbearer of the NDC for the 2020 elections.
For Mosquito to turn around and endorse the former president, in a bid to strengthen his campaign, is a course of action Jacobs is not excited about.
Jacobs is convinced that General Mosquito is simply interested in using Mahama’s name to secure his seat as general secretary of the party.
General Mosquito is facing competition from his deputy, Koku Anyidoho, who is poised to take over from him.
Reacting to Mosquito’s support for Mahama, Jacobs described it as sycophancy, as he earlier condemned the move, when the regional chairmen expressed their support for the former president.
