- After 20 years of professional career Joe Cole has hanged up his football boots
- He was one of the main parts of Chelsea restructuring during 2003-2010 years
- Despite the large number of awards and cups, since 2010 after leaving Blues his performances didn't go well
Former striker of Chelsea and England national team Joe Cole announced he is finishing professional career.
He wrote the post at Instagram in which thanked ‘countless people have helped’ him through that path.
“My favourite thing about being a professional footballer was the feeling you enjoy after coming back into the dressing room after a win. It will be difficult to replicate that but I'll always remember all of my former team-mates who I shared that experience with.”
Cole also mentioned all the clubs he had honour to play, but pointed the most enjoyable period in his career was during he performed for Chelsea. And with vast experience at the professional level Joe Cole would love to try his best to coach in future.
"Winning trophies at Chelsea was particularly special for me. Those memories will live with me forever, as will the chance I had to share them with my family.
"Looking to the future, I want to stay involved in the game. I feel I can offer a lot as a coach and have really enjoyed the opportunity to undertake some of these duties with the Rowdies. To lend my experience to help other young footballers achieve their dreams, just like I did, is a big passion of mine."
Cole ended his 20-year career with over 700 games played and over 100 goals scored. He spent 7 years at Chelsea, making nearly 300 appearances. In that period Cole was an important part of big restructuring in The Blues during 2003-2010 years.
As Eden Hazard told Chelsea's Twitter account later, it was Joe Cole who helped the Belgian to adapt in the team many years ago. Since he spent the 2011-12 season on loan with the Ligue 1 club Lille, he convinced Hazard to join Chelsea.
"I spoke to him before I signed for Chelsea,” Eden said.
“Every day, seriously, he was telling me that Chelsea was the best club for me.
"He said Chelsea was a big club where you can win trophies every season. For that reason I signed, so thank you, Joe Cole!"
