Ghana and Qatar sign 5 MoUs

- The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has praised the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

- According to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the fundamentals of the Ghanaian economy is worthy of emulation by others on the continent

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, says he has been impressed by the way President Akufo-Addo has governed Ghana since assuming office.

According to him, the President has exhibited great leadership over the last twenty-two (22) months, adding that he is “governing Ghana well”.

The Emir of Qatar said the management of Ghana’s economy is also a “good example” worthy of emulation by other African countries.

President Akufo-Addo paid was on an official visit to Qatar to meet the Emir on Tuesday, 13th November, 2018.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani went on to praise the business-friendly environment created in Ghana.

He was hopeful that Ghana and Qatar can forge a strong relationship which will be mutually beneficial to both countries.

“There are lots of opportunities that we can do together,” the Emir stressed.

He added that the Qatar Investment Authority is already exploring opportunities in the areas of energy, tourism, agriculture, security, education, and infrastructural development in Ghana.

Commenting on the state of insecurity in the Sahel, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said Qatar is ready to lend its support in the fight against terrorism in countries like Burkina Faso and Mali.

On his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the Emir, saying Ghana will continue to have a good relationship with Qatar.

“We are determined to have a good relationship with Qatar, we value the relationship, and we will continue with it,” the President said.

Nana Addo was hopeful that with solid participation from the Qatari Government and its private sector, Ghana can develop a modern railway network.

Such a project, the President said, will be able to connect Ghana to neighbouring countries like Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, and Togo.
