Residents of Tarkwa-Nsuta have reportedly blocked the Tarkwa-Takoradi road after a man lost his life.
The road block constructed after about 50 residents massed up at the Nsuta junction, reportedly left vehicles stranded at both ends of the road.
The deceased, who is yet to be identified, was knocked down by a truck on Thursday, November 15, 2018, as he tried to cross a road.
According to a report by 3news.com, the truck which hit the man, allegedly belongs to the Ghana Manganese Company Limited.
A resident, Kofi Ackon, told Takoradi-based Connect 91.7FM that the man was crossing the road at about 8:00pm Thursday when the truck which was from Nsuta to Axim knocked him dead.
“The man had closed from work and was crossing the road at the Nsuta Junction. I cannot really tell whether the driver saw the victim or not.
But from the video I have seen the driver might have been speeding because all the intestines of the victim were splashed on the road” he narrated.
He added that they decided to block the road because the accident, which resulted in the loss of a life, angered them.
He added that the residents will continue to block the road if speeding drivers are not sanctioned.
A school girl also lost her life a month ago after another truck run over her.
Meanwhile the police in the area have moved in to disperse the crowd for traffic to flow.
