I am ready to support the NDC in any capacity for victory– Zanetor

- Dr Zanetor Rawlings has said she is willing to support the NDC to victory in 2020 in whatever capacity

- Her comments follow reports that she was being considered as John Mahama’s running mate for the 2020 elections

- She has however said it would be premature to say if she was ready to be Mahama’s running mate

The Member of Parliament for Korley Klottey Constituency, Dr Zenator Rawlings, has said that she is ready to support the NDC in whatever capacity to victory in the 2020 elections.

Zenator, who happens to be a daughter of former president Rawlings, was speaking on earlier reports that she had been nominated as John Mahama’s running mate for 2020.

She was reportedly speaking in an interview with Class FM.

Asked whether she was ready for the running mate position, Zenator described the question as a “tricky” one.

She added that it would be premature for her to say if she has been nominated or not, and if she was ready to partner Mahama.

According to her, all that matters is that she is willing to serve the NDC in whatever capacity – that is whether as running mate or another position – to help the party win power from the NPP in 2020.

She, however, denied media reports that she had been nominated by Mahama to be his running mate for 2020, stressing that it was not the case.

A statement released by Mahama's campaign team, which was signed by his spokesperson, James Agyenim Boateng also dismissed the reports.

The statement described the reports as false, asking the public to disregard it entirely.

“Former President John Dramani Mahama has become aware of speculations about his choice of Running Mate for the 2020 Presidential elections. We wish to state that the reports are false.”

"Mr. Mahama is presently focused on both his NDC flag bearer campaign and his official duties. Therefore, Ghanaians should disregard all such conjectures", part of the statement read.
