The five pupils of the Assin Atobease Primary School who were killed in a gory accident last Friday at Assin Atobease in the Assin South District of the Central Region have been buried.
Their burial took place at Atobease on the morning of Wednesday, November 21.
In photos sighted by YEN.com.gh, the deceased were put in identical coffins with their names and photos placed on them.
Mates of the unfortunate young girls were seen with red headbands as they carried wreaths for their friends' burial.
And it was sadness and gloom judging from the faces of the bereaved pupils.
The pupils, all girls, were run over by an articulator truck while they were attempting to cross the Yamoransa-Kumasi Highway which passes through the town after closing from school. The five died on the spot.
The Assin South District Director of Education Stephen Abanfo who witnessed the unfortunate accident narrated that he was in his office when he a heard an unusually loud noise so he rushed out.
After coming out, he realised that the articulator truck with registration number AS 8123-16 had veered off the road and run into the pupils after some metal joints on the car broke.
The incident was later confirmed by the Assin South district police commander, DSP Okyere Andam who stated that the truck which was fully loaded with about 850 bags of cement was travelling from Takoradi to Kumasi.
Just like the news of their deaths, the photos from their burial has caused a huge outpouring of emotions on social media.
Many who have been left heartbroken have taken to social media to express their sadness over the deaths.
