Young community nurse saves pregnant woman in roadside delivery

A senior community nurse with Bonkrom Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District, Jordan Yunbow Michael, has warmed hearts as he came to the rescue of a 20-year-old pregnant woman.

Jordan is now celebrated as he saved the woman and her baby in an emergency delivery at a roadside in Dome.

He became an angle when he was travelling to Dome when he met a woman who was in labour.

Apparently the woman lives at Nsugyaso and was going to Agogo in Ashanti for the delivery.

He had no option as he came to her rescue, delivering her on a polythene at the roadside using a black Polythene bag as gloves.

A social media user Edmund Atweri Duodu shared the touching story of the community nurse on Facebook.

After saving the woman, Jordan in an interview explained how it all happened.

After the safe delivery, the Nurse Jordan Yunbow cut the umblical cord with a blade, dried off the baby boy wrapped her with cloth handed him to his mother.

I was going to have a meeting with the chiefs and Elders so i saw a private car parked at where they sell their Patrol thinking may be they,wanted to buy patrol and go ahead.A 19 close to 20 year old girl came out and wanted to urinate not knowing the whole thing(labor) had started so i went closer and they told me she was in labour. So i have to take their mackintosh(rubber) put it on the floor and helped her deliver."

According to the Nurse, the baby and mother were both healthy but he refereed them to a health center for further care.

Not too long ago a young midwife was celebrated after she delivered a pregnant woman on a moving bus.

After the delivery, the newly-born baby and her mother were handed over to the husband who is said to have taken them to the West Hospital in Tamale for further care.
