- President Akufo-Addo has cautioned the NDC against peddling falsehood against the government
- According to him, the NDC will stay in opposition for a long time if it continues to do so
- His comments were in reaction to rumours of a possible relocation of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) from Somanya to Bunso.
President Akufo-Addo has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will stay in opposition for a long time if they continue to peddle falsehoods.
As part of his official visit to the Eastern Region, he stated that attempts to make his government unpopular through deceit will not work.
He added that the current administration has no plans to relocate the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) from Somanya to Bunso.
This act of misinformation, according to the president, is an agenda of the NDC in order to re-capture power from his party.
He however added that “these are people who are looking at a long period in opposition.”
President Akufo-Addo went on to say that the more desperate the NDC gets, the more fabrications they will engage in.
The basis for President Akufo-Addo’s claims are yet to be established, as the NDC have revealed that at no point did they make such a claim.
According to the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC instead expressed concern about a possible move of the Donkorkrom campus of the university to Bunso.
He added that it is therefore wrong for the president to insinuate the NDC is fighting to ensure that the university isn’t moved to Bunso.
