SafariBet refuses to pay young man who won GHC57million bet

A young gambler has been left in a state of shock after he reportedly won a bet of almost Ghc57 million ($12 million) but the betting company refused to pay him.

According reports in section of the Ghana media, Theophilus Morgan placed the bet with popular sports betting company Safaribet.

Having tried many times in the past and lost, the young man finally hit the jackpot as all of his predictions materialised.

Theophilus reportedly bet on 24 teams, of which all ticked ‘green’ after he had the score lines correct.

But reports suggest Safaribet has refused to pay him, and in addition have deleted all of his slips from his account and also blocked his account.

He placed a Ghc1 bet on this accumulator which had a potential win of Ghc261,833, but repeated the same bet 220 times.

His long bet was a mix of games from the Champions League, Premier League, Europa League and the Serie A.

The long bet reportedly run from November 7 to November 11, 2018.

His win is reported to have sparked huge jubilation among his peers in Nungua who were waiting to accompany him to cash the money.

However, they were all left shocked when they realised his account had been blocked by Safaribet.

Following hours of protests in one of the Safaribet shops at Labadi, his account was reactivated, but his winning cash was reportedly reduced from Ghc57 million to just Ghc286,991.

Meanwhile, Safaribet maintains that Theophilus placed just a single bet slip and that he did not repeat the bet 220 times as he claims.

Interestingly, the aggrieved gambler has screenshots of his of the Ghc57 million in his account when he first won.

The report further suggests that Safaribet agreed to pay him the Ghc286,000 on condition that he signs an agreement that he won just one slip and not 220 slips.
