Two men lost their lives after they were knocked by the driver of a pickup vehicle driven by one Charles Owusu.
YEN.com.gh understands that Owusu is a campaign driver of a 2020 National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer aspirant, Alban Bagbin.
Bagbin, who is currently the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli West, is also the Second Deputy Speaker of parliament.
According to police officials, the accident occurred on Sunday, November 25, 2018, as Owusu was heading to Accra from Cape Coast.
The deceased were riding a motorbike when they were thrown off the road between Apam junction and Winneba roundabout on the Accra-Cape Coast highway.
Police officials came in to convey the bodies to the morgue at the Trauma and Specialist hospital at Winneba in the Central region.
The suspect was handed over to the police at the Winneba police station while the Nissan Hard body Pickup with registration number: GT 8265 – 16 is also being checked by the police.
Fire officers from Winneba were then called in to wash off a pool of blood from the highway.
