Former president John Mahama has been honoured by a Nigerian university.
The university (Igbinedion University) conferred a honoroary doctorate degree in letters on Mahama.
The prestigious award was given to the ex-Ghanaian leader on Saturday, November 24, at its 16th convocation.

Igbinedion University, Okada is the first private university in Nigeria, established in 1999.
Mahama failed to retain his seat after losing his re-election in 2016 to then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo by one million votes.
He thus became the first Ghanaian president to lose an election after his first term.

He is seeking to win his party's flagbearership bid to contest in the 2020 election.
Ahead of the 2020 election, Mahama has criticized Nana Akufo-Addo’s government.
According to him, Akufo-Addo is the reason why there is so much hardship in Ghana.
