Champions League: Real Madrid beat Roma 2-0

Real Madrid were able to secure a 2-0 victory in the UEFA Champions League match against AS Roma at Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday, November 27, in Rome, Italy.

The first half ended all square as both teams tested each other's resolve and tried to set up penetrative plays that would hopefully end the deadlock.

It was Gareth Bale that managed to yield returns after he scored his sides first goal minutes after the start of the second half when he pounced, and curled the ball into the bottom corner.

Lucas Vazquez then confirmed victory for manager Santiago Solari, adding to their goal tally with an emphatic tap in after Karim Benzema's knock down, making it 2-0 up to the visitors.

Roma tried to salvage something from the Los Blancos onslaught and almost did so through Aleksandar Kolarov, who attempted a shot from outside the box in the 76th minute.

However, the night was not Roma's as Los Blancos safely killed the game to make take home maximum points.

Madrid top Group G with 12 points with Roma coming in at second with nine points, while Plzen and CSKA Moscow fall in third and fourth place with four points apiece.

YEN.com.gh previously reported that Real Madrid suffered their first defeat under Solari following their 3-0 defeat to seventh place Eibar in the La Liga.

Gonzalo Escalante opened scoring for the hosts barely 16 minutes after a disappointing defensive error in Los Blancos' danger zone.
