Mario Balotelli has revealed his love for Ghana despite deciding to play for Italy.
YEN.com.gh has sighted a photo which Balotelli posted on his Instagram page.
The photo is a painting of the former AC Milan man which he was sitting on a gold throne with two Ghana flags behind him.
He captioned the photo, "I always say that I’m proud to be Italian but never forget that I’m AFRICAN, son of 2 immigrants and proud to be Ghanaian too. AFRICA IS MY."
Balotelli's declaration caught the attention of his followers as they praised him for remembering root.
@judeefenure23 heaped praises on Balotelli: "U are a wise man...because blacks rule this world."
@marouaneqs commented: "Africa is the Origin."
@mamy_syllarito also wrote: "Nice talk MB459. And nice pic."
@perry_nana_sarkcess promised Balotelli: "Ghanaians got your back."
Balotelli was born to two Ghanaian immigrants in Italy and was adopted by Italian parents.
He had the chance to play for either the Black Stars of Ghana or the Azurri of Italy, but he picked the European giants over the West African side.
But despite choosing Italy over Ghana, Balotelli has supported the Black Stars in major football tournaments.
He has played for clubs like Inter Milan, AC Milan, Manchester City, Liverpool and Nice, where is currently plying his trade.
