December 3, 2018 is the 36th of Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien. The former Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder spent over 10 years in the national shirt and played over 50 times including at two FIFA World Cups.
There is no other place that Essien won worldwide recognition than at Chelsea. He was a fan favourite and with the Champions League title in 2012, cemented his place as a Blues legend.

1. Chelsea vs Barcelona (2009)
This was the goal that almost put Chelsea through to the final of the 2009 Champions League. But Essien's goal was cancelled by Iniesta's equally wonderful strike late in the game for Barcelona.

Michael Essien's wavy strike against Araenal has been celebrated as one of the best goals scored in any London derby.
3. Chelsea vs Wigan (2008)
After a lay-up from Nicolas Anelka, Michael Essien let fly a first time shot from the edge of the box to put Chelsea in the lead.
4. Chelsea vs Juventus (2010)
Michael Essien's goal was crucial as Chelsea knocked out Juventus in 2010.
5. Chelsea vs Valencia (2007)
After a long injury layoff, Essien came back to score the second goal as Chelsea beat Valencia 1-2 at the Mestalla.
