Former president John Dramani Mahama, has received an honorary doctorate degree from Ecole de Commerce de Lyon, a business school in Lyon, France
The honorary degree was handed to him at a ceremony in France on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
In photos sighted by YEN.com.gh, Mahama could be seen in an orange and black academic gown as he received the honour.
Accompanying him was the former first lady, Lordina Mahama, who was looking dazzling in a colourful kente outfit.
Mahama was honoured alongside other leaders like former Belgium prime minister, Elio Di Rupo and former Togo prime minister, Agbeyome Gabriel Kodjo.
Coming just few days after his 60th birthday, this could be described as perfect belated birthday gift to the former president.
This is the fourth doctorate degree Mahama has received so far.
It will be recalled that in 2016, the University of Aberdeen in Scotland conferred an honorary degree of Doctors of Laws (LLD) on him while he was Ghana's president.
Just last week, Mahama was honoured with a Doctor of Letters degree by the Igbinedion University, Nigeria's first private university.
He has also received an honorary doctorate from Nigeria's Ekiti University.
Meanwhile, some minority MPs have raised the GHC420,000 which Mahama needs to contest in the NDC's presidential primary in January.
The NDC is selling nomination forms at GHC 20,000 after which a candidate would have to pay GHC400,000 as filing fee.
While the amount, considered as exorbitant, has caused many of the aspirants to complain or even withdraw, Mahama's dream remains on course with the swift fundraiser which has reportedly yielded over GHC600,000 including contributions from other party supporters.
