A group of unidentified men who posed as workers of mobile telecom giant, MTN Ghana, have kidnapped an 18-year-old lady in Takoradi.
The men were said to have advertised a supposed job opening at MTN Ghana in a WhatsApp group and encouraged interested persons to call a contact provided in the advertisement to apply for the job.
According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on 3news.com, a young woman, Ruth Quayson, saw the advertisement in a WhatsApp group and called the contact number to express interest in the job.
The kidnappers then asked Quayson to show up at the Takoradi Market Circle branch of MTN. It was there that she is believed to have been kidnapped.
An elder sister of the kidnapped lady, Nana Adwoa Quayson, narrating the incident on Takoradi-based Connect FM Tuesday, said that her sister left home in the afternoon for the supposed job interview and never returned.
The older Quayson said her sister was said to have been met by some guys at the entrance of the MTN office at the Market Circle.
These men stopped and asked if she was the one coming for the job interview to which she responded in the affirmative.
Nana Adwoa Quayson said she has been in contact with Ruth, who narrated everything to her.
The kidnappers were initially reported to have asked for GHC 500 before they let go of the 18 year-old. But after a long period of no communication, the kidnappers called back with an increased demand of GHC 8,000.
The police have been notified on the incident.
