Akufo-Addo donates November salary to Korle-Bu Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Fund

- President Akufo-Addo has donated GHC25,000 to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Fund

- The amount is the president's November salary

- Akufo-Addo made the donation when he opened the newly constructed burns centre of the hospital on Wednesday

The president, Nana Akufo-Addo has donated his November salary of GHC25,000.00 to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Fund.

The donation, YEN.com.gh has gathered, is his contribution to resourcing the Fund to assist Ghanaians who may require plastic surgery.

Akufo-Addo who is on a three-day tour of the Greater Accra region, made the donation while commissioning the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre of the hospital.

“I have askedthe Deputy Chief of Staff in my office to contribute my monthly salary of twenty-five thousand cedis (25,000.00), November salary, to the Burns and Reconstructive Surgery Fund,” the president was reported by Kasapafmonline.com to have said.

Touching on KBTH's maternity block and surgical ward, Akufo-Addo he was heartbroken when the bad state it was in after entering the hospital.

He, however, assured that funds have been sourced for the total rehabilitation of the two buildings.

The terms of the funding, he disclosed, were before the Finance Minister and will be certainly approved when it comes before cabinet for the rehabilitation works to start as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, in other political news, the leadership of National Democratic Congress has reportedly rescinded its decision to charge aspirants in their upcoming presidential primary GHC400,000 as filing fee.

According to reports, the amount has been reduced by GH¢100,000. The price for the nomination form which was pegged at GHC20,000, however, remains unchanged.

This means aspirants would have to pay GHC320,000 to contest the presidential primary which will elect the party's flagbearer for the 2020 elections.
