A Ghanaian police doctor with the Police Hospital in Accra, Chief Superintendent Dr. Samuel Ofori, together with a German doctor, Dr. Prof. Manfred Spitznas, saved the life of a sick woman on board a KLM passenger plane on Saturday December 8.
The KLM flight, KL 0589, which was travelling from Amsterdam to Accra, had to be delayed for almost two hours at Schipol Airport to make way for the two medical doctors to revive the Ghanaian woman.
The woman reportedly collapsed on board the flight due to severe abdominal pains.
Executive Director of the Africa Center for International Law and Accountability (ACILA), William Nyarko, commended the two doctors for saving the life of the passenger.
According to him, despite the discomfort passengers encountered as a result of the plane being grounded for almost three hours on the tarmac, he was glad the lady passenger was fine.
He also commended the captain of the flight, Marcel Veusteeof and Ann Boumal, the leader of the cabin crew for the professional manner in which they handled the situation.
