The minister for communications and member of parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West Constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekufful, has announced that her office is working with the ministry of finance to ensure that every citizen gets a smart device.
According to her, she was hopeful that by the year 2020 every Ghanaian would have access to a smartphone especially those in the rural areas.
“I am working with the minister of finance to make sure that hopefully by 2020 we can put a smartphone in the hands of all citizens in this country, even in our rural communities- Ursula Owusu- Ekufful"

Ursula disclosed this while she donated about 200 computer on Friday donated about 200 computers to schools in the Ablekuma West constituency on Friday, December 14, 2018, according to StarrFmonline reports.
She added that those devices should be able to be manufactured and assembled locally through the one district one factory (1D1F) initiative.
She explained that a computer and devices and assembly plant could be set up under the 1D1F to supply not just to the country but the entire sub-region as well.
Ursula therefore used the opportunity to call on interested parties to partner with the government to make the dream a reality
She however stressed the need to give children the digital skills that they need to be able to survive, compete and thrive in the new world that is unfolding.
She added, “we think it is important that our children be introduced and proficient in the use of computers at a much earlier age.”
