Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, is lacing his boots to contest the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to enable him vie for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat on the ticket of the party.
According to the party, five persons including the Ghanaian actor and the 2016 parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Delali Kwasi Brempong, have picked up nomination forms to contest in the by-election.
Citinewsroom.com reports that the Chairman of the NDC in the Ayawaso Constituency, Bismarck Aborbi Aryeetey, confirmed the report, adding that the party will work hard to win the seat.
The previous substantive Member of Parliament (MP), Emmanuel Kyeremanten died a few weeks ago in the US under circumstances still unknown to the general public.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the NDC chairman in the constituency, Aborbi-Ayittey, confirmed the readiness of some of the MP-hopefuls to join the race ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
He had earlier said: "Two persons have notified us about their intentions but we will communicate it at the appropriate time."
Ghanaian pollster, Ben Ephson, had also revealed that John Dumelo and son of former president John Agyekum Kufuor, Chief Kufour were likely to stand for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.
He said the NPP may consider Chief Kufour as a compromise to quench the simmering tension between the wives of the late Member of Parliament for the area, Emmanuel Kyeremanten Agyarko who have clashed over the seat of their late husband.
