A contract staff of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Martha Amakye who had been declared wanted and consequently arrested for stealing GH¢1,800,000 has been found guilty and jailed eight years by an Accra Circuit court.
The court has ordered that all properties she had acquired should be confiscated and used by the bank to cover some of the debts in addition to her jail time.
The court is however holding on with her sentence pending the determination of her pregnancy status.
According to reports by MyNewsGh.com, Martha, an outsourced staff of the bank reportedly went around and collected money from customers on the blind side of the company.
Martha did that under the pretext of investing the money in fixed deposits which she never did.
She used her role as the personal solution consultant at the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic Bank to go around to collect money from people although her job description did not require such.
Martha had succeeded in running away with GH¢1.8m, prompting the bank to lodge a complaint with the police.
She absconded but was later apprehended and put before court where she has been found guilty.
