Fire burns down shops and accommodation in Kumasi on Boxing Day

Seven shops, each including a bedroom at Bompata in Kumasi, have been brought down by fire on Boxing Day. Official investigations have started but currently, there is no word on what might have caused the fire.

The fire destroyed properties, with Mynewsgh.com reporting that they ran into several thousands of cedis.

According to some of the affected traders, the unfortunate incident started from one of the seven living rooms on the top floor.

The fire then spread into the other rooms and the shops on the ground floor reducing everything into ashes.

Item reportedly destroyed include electrical appliances and furniture.

Other destroyed items are foodstuffs and a huge amount of money they kept in safes.

It took the intervention of the traders and people around including the fire service personnel, to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, seven persons are feared dead in an accident at Donkorkrom in the Kwahu Affram Plains district of the Eastern Region. Reports indicate that all those feared dead are men.

They were onboard a crane truck with registration AW 4067 on way to a beach party.
