The general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has come under a barrage of social media attacks for a sarcastic response he gave to former president John Mahama over hardships in the country.
Mahama, in one of his many criticisms of the Akufo-Addo government, suggested that the 2018 Christmas will be one of the worst in the history of the country considering the “excruciating economic difficulties” Ghanaians are facing.
“…Most Ghanaian families will go through the driest Christmas they have ever experienced in the history of Ghana,” Mahama said.
In a response to the former president, the NPP general secretary stated that Christmas was only dry in Mahama’s house because they did not have access to national coffers to dole out monies like toffees to cronies.
“The days where people queue at his[Mahama] brother’s house for cash and his wife turned into a philanthropist overnight are over so Christmas will indeed be dry in his house.
“We [the NPP] inherited huge deficit coupled with massive graduate unemployment but due to actions taken by a proactive leader, he has been able to end the IMF programme and employed many people,” Boadu said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.
But it looks like Boadu's comment has not gone down well with a lot of Ghanaians and some of them have taken to social media to blast him.
For many of these people, the NPP man's comment was irritating as it was not reflecting the true situation of Ghanaians this Christmas.
