There was drama at the 2018 edition of Miss Africa beauty pageant as the winner's hair caught fire while on stage.
Miss Congo, Dorcas Kasinde, emerged winner at the final held in the city of Calabar in Nigeria's Cross River state.
Kasinde snatched the crown ahead of Nigeria’s Chimamaka Goodness Nnaemeka and Zambia’s Gladys Kayumba who came second and third respectively.
Immediately after being announced as the winner, Kasinde's afro wig caught fire probably from a flame from the fireworks which heralded the announcement.
The fire in the wig was put after a short while in order for Kasinde to go and enjoy her thirty five thousand dollars ($35,000) and SUV prize.
The runner ups, Miss Nnaemeka and Miss Kayumba took home ten thousand dollars ($10,000) and five thousand dollars ($5,000) respectively.
Ghana's representative, Nana Ama Benson, could only manage a top five finish.
In other news, award winning rapper Sarkodie has released a video explaining why his 2018 Rapperholic concert failed to live up to expectation.
In the eight-minute video, the rapper talked about what led to his low energy on stage, his voice and everything that went wrong on the night.
According to him, he had stressed himself in the days prior to the show as he attended many shows and he got a cold and sore throat.
