Murtala Mohammed calls for the head of Martin Amidu; says he should be prosecuted for corruption

- Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Murtala Ibrahim Mohammed had stated that Martin Amidu needs to be prosecuted for corruption.

- According to him, Amidu was drawing salary for not doing any work thus, causing financial loss to the state

The former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Murtala Ibrahim Mohammed has observed that Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Kaiser Amidu is a perfect candidate for corruption prosecution.

He said if the current administration was indeed committed to fighting the canker, then the special prosecutor needs to be prosecuted.

He disclosed on Tamale-based Radio Tamale that Amidu who had lost credibility over time since his appointment, had been ‘snoring’ and drawing salary causing financial loss to the state despite budgetary allocations made to his outfit in both the 2017 and 2018 annual budgets.

“This man has been chopping this money and I think he is a perfect candidate for prosecution”, Mohammed noted.

The former minister added that the money spent on him and his office had brought no good to the country in respect of his mandate as Special Prosecutor.

He therefore endorsed calls for him to be hauled before the courts.
