Suspected Nigerian kidnapper breaks free from custody in Takoradi

A suspected kidnapper has escaped from police custody in Takoradi in the Western Region. The suspect had been remanded by court for the offence.

The suspect, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, a Nigerian, was remanded into police custody as the court was yet to finalise his conviction.

Mynewsgh.com reports that gathered that he was left in the care of Sergeant Stephen Amoh the Counter NCO, Lance Corporal Rejoice Mensah the Station Orderly and Lance Corporal George Konadu.

As it turned out, the officers failed to keep an eye on him leading to his escape.

The suspect is thought to have cut three 5 by 8 inch iron rods used to secure the ventilation window with an implement and escaped.

All of this reportedly happened on the blind side of the cops who have since been given ten days to recapture the fugitive.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China, Dr Charles Dwamena, has revealed that an average of five Ghanaians were arrested each week by the Chinese authorities in 2018.

According to him, these Ghanaians who were mostly students, were arrested for illegal employment and overstaying their permit.
