- DVLA's CEO, Kwasi Agyeman Busia, has announced plans of registering vehicles in an hour
- He added that the DVLA will team up with the EPA to determine national standards on vehicle emissions
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans of ensuring that vehicles are registered in an hour, YEN.com.gh has learnt.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new DVLA office at Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo region, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kwasi Agyeman Busia, indicated that the project will soon be optimized and deployed.
He added that DVLA was also partnering with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement national standards on vehicle emission.
That, according to him, was necessary to reduce air pollution, ill health and other respiratory problems and protect the environment.
Over the years, vehicle and motorbike owners, as well as drivers, in the Brong Ahafo Region had to travel to Kintampo, Techiman or Sunyani for any of the services to be rendered to them.
He explained that said work had begun on the construction of the Wenchi private vehicle testing station and was expected to be launched in July 2019.
He further stated that the project, comprising a DVLA office and a testing station, would eventually provide the municipality with a complete package for licensing drivers and vehicles.
The DVLA has been initiating various reforms in the last few months. YEN.com.gh earlier reported of the introduction of new licenses, as well as making TIN numbers a requirement for the registration of vehicles.
