Manchester City get their Premier League title defence back on track following their 2-1 victory over Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening.
The encounter tagged as the title decider between the two teams saw both sides parade their best men in a bid to improve their standing on the log.
However, it was Sergio Aguero who broke the deadlock barely five minutes to the end of the first half through a superb strike from a tight corner.
With Bernardo Silva taking responsibility for the assist of his side's first goal of the match as they intended to hand Jurgen Klopp's men their first defeat.
The goal came after both sides had tried finding the back of the net earlier in the game with the visitors coming close to taking the lead.
On return from the 15 minutes break, Roberto Firmino restored parity for the Reds in the 64th minute in a bid to avoid their first Premier League defeat this season.
But a superb strike from Leroy Sane handed the Citizens the lead once again in this encounter as they hope to get their title contention back on track.
The victory has also helped City reduce the gap between them and the Reds to four points as the season continues to wind down.
City's next game will be against Rotherdam in the third round of this year's FA Cup on Sunday, January 6.
