Chelsea star winger, Eden Hazard, has sent a class farewell message to Cesc Fabregas ahead of the Spaniard's departure.
Fabregas is said to be on the verge of leaving Chelsea after featuring in what is thought to be his final appearance for the Blues.
The midfielder captained his side as they claimed a 2-0 victory over Championship side, Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, January 5.
He was, however, subbed off in the dying minutes of the encounter, handing the captain's armband to David Luiz as Chelsea fans applauded him.
The 31-year-old will be out of contract with the London outfit at the end of the season amid speculation he could seal a January move to French side, AS Monaco.
He had a glorious chance of ending his Chelsea career on a high note against Nottingham, but failed to convert from the penalty spot.
He nevertheless received a standing ovation from fans who cheered him as he left the pitch.
Reacting to his imminent departure, Hazard revealed Fabregas meant everything to the club, adding that he was lucky to play alongside the former Arsenal captain.
"In five years I can say that I was lucky to play with him. Since the beginning when he came we won the double together.," the UK Metro quoted the Belgian playmaker.
"Top guy on the pitch and off the pitch. A great friend of mine. I just have admiration for this guy. I hope he will have a good future. He is still a very good player. He will enjoy it," he added.
Fabregas played a pivotal part in former manager, Antonio Conte's success at Chelsea, but fell down the pecking order after the arrival of Maurizio Sarri who prefers new signing, Jorginho, in the Spaniard's place.
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that an emotional Cesc Fabregas broke down into tears after playing in what was potentially his last game for the Blues.
The 31-year-old has since been linked with a January move to French side, Monaco, with reports in the UK suggesting that a deal could be completed next week.
