- Real Madrid confirmed the signing of the 19-year-old player on their social media page and he will be unveiled on Monday, January 7
- Los Blancos are currently occupying fifth position on the La Liga standings with 30 points after 18 games
Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have announced the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Brahim Diaz from Premier League champions Manchester City on a six-year deal.
The player who has only made only 15 appearances for the reigning EPL champions is believed to have cost Los Blancos around £15.5m.
Manchester United were also said to be interested in the signing of Brahim Diaz but the Spaniard preferred a return to his home country.
His contract was due to expire at the end of the ongoing Premier League season but Manchester City decided to sell him so as not to lose him for free.
"Real Madrid CF and Manchester City have agreed to the transfer of the player Brahim Diaz, who remains linked to the club for the remainder of the season and the next six, until June 30, 2025.
"After the medical examination to be held tomorrow, Monday 7 January, the player will be presented at 1.30pm in the honor box of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium,'' Real Madrid confirmed on social media.
Brahim becomes the latest product of City's academy to leave for big money following the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho (£25m), Enes Unal (£12m) and Angus Gunn (£13.5m).
Earlier, YEN.com.gh had reported how European League champions Real Madrid suffered an embarrassing defeat at home on Sunday, January 6, losing 0-2 against Real Sociedad in tough La Liga game.
Los Blancos even finished the match with 10 men as Lucas Vazquez was red carded in the tie as Real Madrid lost their sixth game this season in the topflight.
