A Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Joseph Miigaai Jakperuk, has been shot dead by unknown assailants Gbangu in the East Mamprusi District of the Northern Region.
Joseph Miigaai Jakperuk, who is Deputy Distribution Manager of Accra East Region of GWCL was traveling to his hometown in the Bunkpurugu District when he was stopped by the hoodlums in the night.
According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Mynewsgh.com, the unknown men assailants, after barricading the road with pieces of wood, pulled Jakperuk out of his cross country vehicle and shot him to death.
Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Mohammed Yusif Tanko confirmed the incident a while ago failed to give further details.
Close relations indicate that the suspected robbers aside from killing the deceased, did not take anything from him including some cash suspecting foul play in the death of Joseph Miigaai Jakperuk.
It is gathered that he was taken to the Walewale Government Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival and later transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation pending autopsy.
In a related development, a policeman identified as Sergeant Emmanuel Amede, reportedly shot himself dead at Nungua in Accra.
According to a report, Sergeant Amede shot himself with an AK 47 rifle which he booked for official duties.
The incident is said to have happened in the police officer's room at the Nungua Police Barracks on Sunday dawn.
