Metro Mass driver and ‘mate’ in court over hidden weapons in a bus

- An MMT driver and his conductor are before a court with regard to the discovery of weapons in a bus

- Tony Kwaku Bedu and Samuel Larbi reportedly loaded the bus with ammunition

- Investigations are however ongoing in order to determine the owner of the weapons

Information available to shows that a Metro Mass driver and his conductor have been arraigned before a court.

Tony Kwaku Bedu and his conductor, Samuel Larbi, of a Kpassa-based Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus, with registration number GR 4417-12, reportedly loaded it with ammunition.

They were picked up by the Nkwanta police after they intercepted an SMG rifle and 3 packets of metal cache, consisting of 2,100 rounds of ammunition, at Nkwanta on the Kpassa-Bimbila road of the Eastern corridor.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Doku, said the driver and conductor of the said bus have been arrested for illegal possession of ammunition.

He said investigations were still on-going to ascertain whether the driver owned the ammunition, or he was asked to deliver them without his knowledge.

The Nkwanta Police intercepted the bus which had ammunition concealed under the passenger seats and boot during a random search on the bus at the Nkwanta police barrier on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
