- Menzgold's CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah, reportedly fled to South Africa through Togo and Nigeria
- He was first invited by the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) and later by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI)
- He reportedly cut off all communication with both agencies and later fled the country
Information available to YEN.com.gh indicates that Ghanaian businessman, Nana Appiah Mensah, escaped through Togo and Nigeria to South Africa.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, Mensah, better known as NAM1, jumped bail and fled to South Africa when Menzgold’s challenges with some government agencies surfaced online.
NAM1 was first invited in October 2018 for questioning at the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO).
He was later picked up by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) on November 21, 2018, where he was granted bail under certain conditions.
YEN.com.gh understands that he jumped bail and failed to report on three consecutive occasions.
He also cut off all communications with the security agencies, as he could not be reached either on phone or any other means.
The government, however, intends to use all available resources to ensure that NAM1 is brought to justice.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the nephew of President Akufo-Addo, revealed that NAM1 had jumped bail and absconded from Ghana.
According to reports, NAM1 earlier moved his son and wife, Roselyn out of Ghana to South Africa where he owns a stream of real estate.
His wife’s fashion and jewellery shop, Rozy’s Collections, in Accra, has been emptied and closed.
Neighbours say the shop was emptied by a team who came around at night with 3 Tundras and one KIA pickup about two weeks ago to pack the shop's wares.
His mother, Eva Brew and sister, Abigail Mensah, who played prominent roles in the business are however in the country chasing their own debtors.
