Brighton who have scored in every home game tried to fight their way back into the match but could not break the organized Liverpool defence.
However, Georginio Wijnaldum's 80th minute shot from outside of the 18-yard box went just wide as Brighton breathe a sigh of relief.
There were no more goals in the match as the Merseyside club ran away with the 1-0 win courtesy of a penalty from Salah.
