- Modric had put the European champions ahead in the 13th minute

Real Madrid got back to winning ways in La Liga following their narrow 2-1 victory over Real Betis.
Santiago Solari's men stole the show late on to narrowly escape with maximum points after the score stood at 1-1 until two minutes from time.
A number of first team members were absent in the starting XI including Lucas Vasquez, Marcelo Toni Kroos and Thibaut Courtois.
But that did not stop Los Blancos from dominating proceedings in the opening exchanges as Modric found the back of the next after 13 minutes played.
A deflected shot from Dani carvajal fell kindly for the Ballon d'Or winner as he rifled in a left-foot shot to put his side ahead by a 1-0.
Madrid were on rampage with a couple of counter attacking moves but Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde wasted opportunities that came their way.
Solari's men went into the break with a 1-0 lead but striker Karim Benzema would not return for the second half because of nasty fall which resulted into a finger injury.

Real Betis came in stronger in the second period and were asking questions in the Madrid goal.
Sergio Canales equalized in the 67th minute after beating an offside trap to put the ball through the legs of Keylor Navas in goal.
Although the referee had to consult the VAR team for a review if the Spaniard was in an offside position and the goal stood as Betis were level at 1-1.
Madrid's attacking threat collapsed as several changes made in the second half did not make the effect needed.
However two minutes from time Dani Cellabos punished his old club as he curled in a beautiful freek-kick from 20-yards to put Madrid 2-1 up.
