It was decided that the team would undertake the operations on Sunday, January 13, 2019, but residents in the town got wind of the decision and mounted a resistance.
The team retreated after they were attacked and an AK47 rifle was taken from them by the youth in the town.
DCOP Doku went on to say that the police informed the military in the area who decided to retrieve the AK-47 rifle.
The military subsequently went to the traditional ruler in Alavanyo Dzogbedze to inform him about their intended operation.
This was done with the hope that he would prevail on his subjects to surrender the arms.
But as the soldiers departed from the chief, they were also attacked by the assailants who fired shots at them.
