3 new factories commissioned by President Akufo-Addo to boost the economy

President Akufo-Addo commissioned on January 15, 2019, three new factories established by Unilever Ghana Limited. The event took place in Tema at the company's premises.

The factories involved a Personal Care Dryer Plant, Biomass Boiler Plant and Oral Factory.

According to The Daily Guide, the Personal Care Dryer would be used in the drying of the soap mixture along the production chain while the new Biomass Plant is designed to use palm kernel shells as fuel for factory operations.

The new Oral Factory will on-shore a reactive capacity of 40% oral volumes, especially for Pepsodent and Close-Up.

This is expected to wean Ghana off external supply sources.

Speaking at the event, President Akufo-Addo said: “Our goal is to unleash innovative entrepreneurial instincts of the Ghanaian private sector to drive rapid growth and job creation.”

He revealed that his administration was on course to realizing its goal of creating jobs.

The president expressed the belief that the three new factories of Unilever would not only increase the manufacturing capacity of the company but lead to the creation of more jobs in Ghana.

He lauded the company’s decision to bring its operational capabilities to the country and continue to source raw materials locally.

He reiterated his commitment to improve the lives of shareholders, management and staff of Unilever and the people of Ghana in general.

Meanwhile, The Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, is disputing claims that gold dealership firm, Menzgold, has about one million customers whose funds are locked up with the firm.

The veteran journalist said his checks showed that Menzgold had a combined clientele of 4,924 customers at the branches, with the exception of the Kaneshie branch.
