Negotiations are complicated for the Blues, who are having to deal with a number of factors such as pre-agreed payments and replacement signings while also talking with Atletico Madrid over an exit for Alvaro Morata.

SunSport however reports that it appears talks are heading in the right direction, with Higuain’s omission from the snap suggesting he won’t play a part in tonight’s Cup final – possibly for fear of risking injury.

Meanwhile, some Chelsea fans are already excited with the development and expressed their delight on Twitter.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Premier League giants Chelsea are close to sealing a move for Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain this month.

The 31-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri last summer as a replacement for under-firing Alvaro Morata.

Despite scoring just six goals in 15 Italian League matches so far this campaign, Blues boss Sarri believes the 31-year-old can end his side's struggles in front of goal.
